East Cleveland wants the cameras down. Oh, yeah. Petitioners will be out at the Forest Hills Shopping Center at Superior and Euclid Avenues. on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 from 4-6PM.

The November 2011 ballot is becoming a reality.

Come out and see how desolate Euclid Avenue has become. There are more red light cameras looming here than in most cities with Flash 4 Cash. WTAM radio personality Art McKoy is leading the charge in East Cleveland. Get his autograph and let us get your autograph on the petition to ban red light cameras in East Cleveland.

South Euclid Is Hitting The Streets – Call to Action

The Camera Removal Team in South Euclid is hitting the streets the week of July 10, 2011. If you are a resident of South Euclid, the easiest way to insure this issue’s place on the ballot is to circulate a petition. We are asking each circulator to gather 20 signatures on their petition. This will take about one hour of your time.

You don’t know how to circulate a petition?

You have to be a resident of the state of Ohio.You DO NOT have to live in South Euclid to circulate a petition there.

You CANNOT be a convicted FELON

You have to witness every signature on your petition. No one else can circulate your petition.

All signature must be in ink.

Only registered voters in South Euclid can sign the petition.

You, the circulator, will certify the back of the petition by signing your name and address in the space provided.

East Cleveland’s own Art McKoy, WTAM radio show personality, is hosting the next signature opportunity for East Cleveland and Cleveland petitions to ban red light cameras. Your next opportunity to support East Cleveland and Cleveland in their quest to get on the ballot in November, 2011 is Wednesday, July 6 at 4:00PM at the corner of Lee Rd. and Euclid Ave. Petitions will be in circulation until 7:00PM

From this location, you can see the cameras blinking away at every intersection on Euclid Ave. in East Cleveland. Stand under the shadowy presence of the cameras. Hold a sign, come out and meet Art McKoy, add your name to the ever growing list of East Clevelanders and Clevelanders who want the cameras down! The only way we can bring this issue to a vote is with your signatures.

Call to Petition for Cleveland Red Light Camera Signatures!!

We will meet at Common Grounds Coffee Shop at 8:00AM on Monday, July 4, 2011. Please bring clipboards if you have them and be ready for a fast, fun signature gathering event!!At 8:00 in the morning, you can still use the parking lot behind Common Grounds. If you are much later than that, please refer to the information below as to what streets will be closed.

The projected attendance for the parade is 18,000 people. See below.

The West Park Kiwanis Independence Day Parade will step off at 9:30 a.m. July 4 from Kamm’s Plaza shopping center at Rocky River Drive and Lorain Avenue in Cleveland’s West Park neighborhood.

Units will gather and begin lining up in the shopping center parking lot at 8:30. Kiwanis members and other volunteers will be on hand at the registration table to check in the units and assign parade positions.

Jan Murphy, president of Fairview and Lakewood hospitals, is this year’s grand marshal.

The parade will follow its traditional 2-mile route, east on Lorain to West Park Road, back to Rocky River Drive and south to Kamm’s Plaza. It takes about 1½ hours for all the units to complete the route. Lorain is closed to traffic from just west of Kamm’s Plaza to West Park Road, Rocky River Drive is closed from Lorain north to West Park, and West Park is closed at Lorain during the parade.

About 100 units are expected to participate. In previous years, about 18,000 spectators turned out to watch the parade, which LaRocque said is the biggest Independence Day parade in Cleveland.

Garfield Hts. Is At It Again

What is going on in Garfield Hts.? After the voters in Garfield Hts. successfully banned red light and speed cameras in November, 2010, the Garfield Hts. City Council actually wants to put this issue back on the ballot. It’s another safety issue…for the safety of the children. Are there police in Garfield Hts.? Anyone who is “racing” through a school zone deserves to face their accuser in court and get the points on their license. Isn’t it appropriate for police to be in the neighborhoods? They can be watching for people selling drugs in the proximity of schools and people lurking in the shadows.

How does paying a fine for a civil violation secure the safety of the children in schools? Isn’t it far wiser to have police pull motorists over so they can sit there red-faced for “racing” through school zones?

East Cleveland Wants the Cameras Down!

East Cleveland and Cleveland petitions to get on the November, 2011 ballot will be in circulation at the corner of Lee Rd. and Euclid Ave. from 5PM-7PM on Wednesday, June 29, 2011. You will see us on the corner under the shadowy presence of a red light camera. Just pull into the parking lot at McCall’s Hotel and sign the petition. We have petitions available from East Cleveland, Cleveland and South Euclid. If you haven’t had the opportunity to sign the petition for your community yet, be there Wednesday night. It takes a minute to sign the petition and you will be glad you did.

Haven’t gotten a red light camera ticket yet? It’s just a matter of time. Help us, help you. With enough signatures, the voters of Cleveland, East Cleveland and South Euclid will have the chance to vote on this issue.

Remember, we are 15-0 when this issue is placed on the ballot.

Cleveland Renews Contract with ACS

Cleveland City Council kept the welcome mat out for ACS and renewed the contract with them for another two years. No surprises here. The only surprise was who voted NAY this time around. Councilors Dona Brady and T.J. Dow were the only no votes. ACS, a fully owned subsidiary of the Xerox Corporation, is not in this for “safety.” Rule #1- Don’t Lose Money.

Kamms Corners is being good to us. Next Saturday, May 14, 2011,there is a “Hooley” ( Irish for party). It is a block party event and it’s a big one. Last year, the party drew 15,000 people for the day long festivities.

We will meet at Common Grounds Coffee Shop at 11:30.

Bring your clipboards and be ready to get lots of signatures.

We have the petitions, we have the t-shirts – all we need is you!

You don’t have to stay for the entire event. If you can work an hour or two, we appreciate all the help we can get.
